Today I am here with the info on connecting pen-drive with Galaxy Pocket. Most of guys here might know it very well, but some folks are still not aware about it. The next time you are on your way and meet a friend who has some of your most wanted movies and games on a Pen Drive with him, you would always want to have a copy of the stuff for yourself. But, since, you do not have a laptop or net book, you would miss the good opportunity. Not the next time!!! From now on, your Android phone could outsmart the purpose that a laptop could have served.  And, for this you do not need any high end Android Device. Our Galaxy pocket can serve this purpose. So, now, after going through this post, you would know how to connect a Pen Drive to your galaxy pocket and do anything that you could have done with your Mac/PC.

You would need just aUSB OTG Adapter or OTG cable for this to work. Its small, light weight and can be kept in your wallet to serve the purpose. It plugs into your phone’s mini-usb interface and gives you a full USB port instead. The normal Micro USB Adapters  and OTG cable look like this:

OTG Cable

OTG Adapter

These will connect to your Device with a Micro USB port i.e. the port you have.

Moving ahead from connecting Pen Drives to your Android device, there are OTG adapters that even allow you to read Micro SD cards and other memory cards. The following is the one that allows you to plug in pen drives and all types of memory cards:

And, definitely, the one above has the highest usability quotient. These USB OTG adapters will be compatible to complete Samsung Galaxy range of devices just because they run with the brotherhood of Android, a seamless and compatible platform.
If you are based in US, you may buy one of these adapters from stores which will cost you around 20$. It is also hard to find it from a local stores in USA. It is far better to get one of these from Amazon @ a price 10 times lower. They are cheap as they do not carry the brand-name but are at par in every other way.

In India you can easily buy it from local mobile phones market. You can find one of these from a local store. Some common places where you will find them are:
Chandni Chowk in Kolkata
Lakshmi Market in Pune
Heera Panna Market in Mumbai
Gaffar Market in Delhi
Mobile market Sector 22 Chandigarh.

Else you can also buy these from online marketing portal.

Hello everyone i have heard a lot of complaint  about touchscreen not working after flashing a rom or a kernel I think i might be able to help here because it did happend to me and the solution that will be provided here was what i used to correct it.Now it is functioning like it used to.

Firstly when your touch screen stops functioning there is more than one reason why it not working.

1) It may be that the touch and digitizer have worn out -  in this case all you can do is change the screen and digitizer.

2) Seconly it may be caused by battery, electricity or some software problem like kernel.

Today am going to focus on the second cause which is the software, electricity and battery issue. This issue sometimes render your touch not working at all while other times it works for few seconds and stop working again.to fix this try the following steps below.

* If you flash a rom or kernel recently before it started having problem, reflash back to another rom or kernel
* After changing the rom or kernel reboot your device and you will notice it is the same
* Now put off your device and connect it to the charger to charge
* Make sure the phone is not on while charging.
* Charge it for about one hour.
* Now reboot your device and touch should start working.
* It is possible that after some few hour or minute it stop working again - dont worry just  repeat the process again and you are goood to go.everything will start working normally again.
* If all this does not help pray your device is in debugging mode then try to flah stock rom via odin
* If all the above does not work,am afraid you have to visit samsung for repair or a good technician to help you change the screen and digitizer.

Hi,we all have been longing for a rom that supports swap memory ever, since the developement started on galaxy pocket,Finally we have a kernel that suppots swap memory riskey kernel is the name and thanks to the developer for this good job. Before we start anything let me give a brief clarification on swap.
Swap is mostly use in the linux enviroment as a virtual memory that serves as an extended ram, so that there will be more ram for many application to run without running out of memory. The concept is a nice one, and since android is built on the  linux platform, android therefore have the capacity to make a swap memory as long as the particular kernel running on the device supports swap.
One of our developer have developed a kernel that supports swap memory on galaxy pocket device.Take a look at the steps below to make swap for your device
Requirements:
* A rooted device
* Riskey kernel(thanks to elasys dev for this kernel)you can see original page here
* Ram expander
* An sdcard on externel sdcard with about 500mb-1gb free space {i suggest you use the sdcard as it has more read/write speed than   most external_sd
* 5minutes of your time.
Procedures To Follow:
* Download  riskey kernel and flash directly in cwm
* Download Ram expander and install it.
* Open ram expander and you will notice two input box, the first one is "size in mb" put 512 mb or you can increase it to whatever number you want as long as you a have the required space in the sdcard(it should not be more than 2gig)
* Secondly you will see a box "swappiness"put 50 or 60.
* Now tick the "active swap"above and wait untill the application prepare the swap file.
* After this swap memory have now been created on your device.
Note:
* The screenshot below are just to show that it works on my device.
* Making swap file may degrade your sdcard life because the device frequently read and write to the sdcard
* Do this at your own risk

Got a new Google Settings icon on your Galaxy Pocket?

You may have been surprised today to see a new app icon in your drawer, the Google Settings, getting you access to previously unseen dashboard of settings.

While the more tech savvy among us might suspect some hidden malware is at work, what’s actually at play is a silent update to the Google Play Services app.

As far as its functionality, however, it’s basically just a shortcut to your Settings > Accounts > Google options, giving you the exact same options you’d find there, with the addition of some Google+ sign-in settings as well.

Likely, Google will fill this space with some unique settings at some point in the future, but for now it’ll be just another (pretty) icon in your app drawer

As i was surfing i came across this  so i thought  of sharing this topic with you guys because, i know its going to help alot of people especially newbie.
There lot of android terms right? But i will be giving you some very important and needful ones now, then later i will come up with some other great one's too.
Kernel: The kernel is a layer of code that allows the interfacing of the OS and applications to your phone’s hardware. The degree to which you can access your phone’s hardware features depends on the quality of code in the kernel. So in a simple way kernel are the intermidiary between your hardware and software.

Launcher: This is an important part of Android’s user interface on your homescreen that lets you launch apps, make phone calls
and access your app drawer. Different manufacturers ship phones with personalized
launchers, other custom ones are available in the Google Play Store.

Mod: The act of modifying a piece of hardware or software or anything else for that matter, to perform a function not originally conceived or intended by the designer.

Nandroid: Nandroid is used to backup or restore backups from Recovery.Nandroid backup involves backing up the entire rom including, all installed applications and their data. This is a very good practice especially for people who flash roms regularly,So that when you restore the backup it will restore your previous rom and the installed app+data as though nothing happend.
Nightly: A build that is performed at the end of each day of development. They can contain bugs.

OpenGL ES: Android provides OpenGL ES libraries that you can use for fast, complex 3D images. It is harder to use than a Canvas
object, but better for 3D objects. The
android opengl and javax.microedition.khronos.opengles
packages expose OpenGL ES functionality.

Open & Closed Beta: Developers release either a closed beta or an open beta; closed beta versions are released to a select group of individuals for a user test and are
invitation only, while open betas are from a larger group of the general public and anyone
interested. The testers report any bugs that they find, and sometimes suggest additional features they think should be available in the
final version.

Overclock: Increasing the speed of a CPU. It usually gives improved performance and faster performace.Overclocking can only be done if the kernel on your device supports overclocking. Overclocking can also affect you battery life as faster cpu means more demand in battey life.
Partition: The phone’s internal memory  the SD card) is solid-state (flash) memory, a.k.a NAND. It can be partitioned much like a normal hard drive can be partitioned. The bootloader exists in its own partition.
Recovery: This is another partition and its main duty is to perform administrative task like, factory reset and wiping data and cache. You can also use a custom recovery which add additional functionality to the recovery like backup and restore, install zip and custom roms.
ROM/Firmware: Read-Only Memory and technically speaking, it refers to the internal storage of a device, which is supposed to contain the operating system instructions that need not be modified at all during the
device’s normal operation.

RAM: (Random Access Memory) A group of
memory chips, typically of the dynamic RAM (DRAM) type, which function as the computer’s primary workspace. The “random” in RAM means that the contents of each byte of storage in the chip can be directly accessed without regard to the bytes before or after it.
Root: The first level of a folder.
Rooting: Read this article about rooting

SBC: The ability to charge your battery beyond the default safety limit. The concept is similar to overclocking a processor: you’re overriding the safety limits established to achieve additional performance. The benefit here is that you may gain more use of your battery per charge. The drawback is that you can damage the battery and significantly reduce its longevity. Some kernels claim they are using a safe technique to prevent battery damage. Just be aware of the potential risks.

Sideloading: It means installing applications without using the official Android Market.

Splash Screen: A splash screen is an image that appears while android is loading. Splash screens cover the entire screen or simply a rectangle near the center of the screen.

Superuser/SU: On many computer operating systems, the superuser is a special useraccount used for system administration.Depending on the operating system, the actual name of this account might be: root,
administrator or supervisor.

Stock rom: This is the operating system that came with your device
without any modifications made to it except for any device-specific support required to run it on the particular device.

Tethering: Means sharing the Internet connection of an Internet-capable mobile phone with other devices. This can be done via Bluetooth, USB connection, WiFi Hotspot.

Underclocking: Reducing the speed of your CPU.

Undervolting: Undervolting means taking some of the voltage from the CPU which in return for a longer battery life and lower temperature during intensive use of the CPU.

Zipalign: An archive alignment tool introduced first with the 1.6 Android SDK. It optimizes
the way an Android application package (APK) is packaged. Execution time is minimized for zipaligned applications, resulting is lesser amount of RAM consumption.

Compile: It translates (a android program) from a high-level language into another language, usually machine language.

Decompile: To convert executable (ready-to- run) program code (sometimes called object code ) into some form of higher-level programming language so that it can be read by a human.

Deodex: One thing i know android for, is fragmemtation. All the apks(applications) that came
With your device are odex, meaning there are some other part of that apk (application) somewhere else in the device, which will make it difficult to modify those apk because, there will confict among the modified apk and the other part that is somewhere else. Now deodexing means repacking all the apk into one dex file.Making it easier to modify without confict among them.

Boot Animation: Boot animation is a term for a graphical representation of the boot process of the operating system. Bootanimation can be a simple visualization of the scrolling boot messages in the console, but it can also present graphics or some combinations of both. It does not add any functionality to your device it is just there to showing either the name of the manufature or displaying some other images just to entertain you while the phone boots.

Bootloop: This is a process whereby your phone revolves round about displaying the bootanimation over and over again without booting to the main Os.

This is it for now, a part 2 will be coming soon. Thanks

Bricking is a word very common with android devices. There are diffrent types of bricking as it relates to android devices. Hard brick and soft brick are the two types of bricking.
As admin here,i flash all kinds of things so as to know if it works, before posting it here so that i will avoid posting things that will harm your devices, and that has made me brick my phone alot of times.

Bootloop: This is the most common problem faced by most galaxy pocket users.Bootlooop is when your device cannot boot to the Operating system and as a result ,it continues to show only the bootanimation or continues to reboot over and over again.it can be classified under soft brick also and can occur when you flash roms improperly or tamper with a system application that is essential or even changing a build prop  wrongly can also result in bootloop.
Now solution to bootloop is very easy, you just need to restore a nandroid back up,or better still flash Another rom or that same rom as long as you have them at the root of your sdcard. So it is a very good practice to have some rom on the root of your sdcard always.

Soft Brick:This type of brick is easy to to fix. They are caused by software issues that can be corrected easily. In most soft brick the user will be able to boot into recovery mod or download mode or even both but will not be able to boot into the Operating system, there may be no bootanimation at all, just some black screen on hangs at Samsung Gt-S5300 screen. So if the device can boot to recovery then flashing another rom through cwm recovery will unbrick the device in most case.On the otherway if your devices can boot into download then reflashing a stock firmware via odin will do the unbricking. One little advice i have for you is always make sure that usb debugging is always on.

Hard brick: This type of brick is hard as the name implies, and most times it cannot be unbricked easily that is if there is ever a way to unbrick it.The best way i know of is to take it back to the manufacturer as only they can unbrick it,either by changing the board or the entire device and better pray you are still on warranty period otherwise , you will have to keep it as an expensive paperwieght.I have hard bricked my device when trying to partition my sdcard from cwm using a cwm for galaxy y because at that time there was no cwm for galaxy pocket and the phone went dead,i tried all sorts of things but it did not work.I took it to samsung, then they gave me another galaxy pocket.
So you now know what to do when any of the above happens to your device. You can allow bootloop,Soft brick to occur, but never allow hard brick.Have a nice time.

Viewing this site means you got a galaxy pocket or equivalent device.anyway,Welcome guys, i thought it will be nice to have a place where  galaxy pocket users can get specific information about our device(i mean the galaxy pocket gt s5300)like any other phone of its kind.but before i start blogging about anything serious, we need to take our time to know exactly what kind of device we are holding. So firstly i will list some important specification of the device.

1.Galaxy pocket is qvga phone i.e it has a qvga resolution(240*320) this will be very helpful when downloading hd games because if you download any game other than qvga  resolution or size on the pocket it will not fit properly on the screen,so there is a need to always keep dis in mind whenever you are looking 4 games to download.

2.This device is an armv6 type processor device which is also very helpful when sorting 4 games and application online because, not all games are compartible with all kind of processor type.

3.Gt 5300 does not have a gpu (graphics processing unit) like some other armv6 phones too e.g the galaxy y.The gpu  helps a lot in playing 3d games, but, with some tweaking you can get some 3d games working perfectly on your device.

This is all i will be listing for now, more tweak like rooting and even flashing custom roms  will be coming very soon, you can inform you friends about this blog, many great thing are coming very soon.thanks
